ABOUT THE VENUE: Award winning Open Ground Studios is a fine art school, cooperative visual art studio and coworking space that provides dedicated, inspiring and sustainable workspace for creative adults, professionals and teens. OGS is an affordable and accessible shared facility offering 24/7 access to co-op and coworking members. OGS promotes community entrée into creative productivity by hosting workshops, open studio time, classes, social events, and exhibition space.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION: These graphic works designed by artist John Hain are the product of a long immersion in the Breakthrough Men’s Workshop, where John has served as a volunteer peer-educator and peer-counselor since 1995. Throughout this revelatory experience, he has grown deeply interested in communicating insight into the psycho-spiritual nature of personal transformation. Words in combination with symbolic images are powerful, as we know from being manipulated by various forms of advertising, marketing, and visual media. By the same token, if thoughtfully and intuitively arranged, word-bearing images can offer inspiration, wisdom, and guidance for personal growth and self-realization. Because the transformative path often
begins with learning how to simply “be with” each experience, and, in the end,
we embody what we practice, he has entitled this show
“Be — Change — Become.” It is John's hope that viewers of this exhibition
will take time to slow down, sense inward, and connect with the core meaning
of each composition. You can learn more about John and his work as both an
artist and a professional on his website.
