Medieval Sketch Book Workshop
The Medieval Sketchbook is a two-day workshop where students will make a 10 signature book (160 pages) sewn on cords and laced onto oak boards, covered in quarter leather. Medieval and renaissance books were bound in wooden boards because it was a robust, dependable structure that kept the contents safe. Learning this structure will help you understand the history of bookbinding as well as show you a method of construction that can provide your artwork a unique and durable housing.
